In this 6-day Morocco itinerary, you will embark on a lifetime trip to the Sahara Desert from Fez. After exploring one of the most iconic imperial cities of Morocco, it’s time to explore the countryside of Morocco and embark on a most memorable journey to the Sahara. We will drive through Middle Atlas with a stop at Ifrane, known as little Switzerland. Then we continue to Cedar forest where you will get to see wild monkeys. Continue our journey through Ziz Valley with stop for panoramic view of palmaraie.
Upon arriving Merzouga, you will start seeing stunning sand dunes. After a night’s rest in a riad, you will have a whole day to explore Erg Chebbi. Visit nomad families, watch Gnawa music and dance performance and try a Berber pizza. Before sunset, camels will be waiting to take you to your luxury camp. After having dinner, you will gather around a campfire for a drum performance. This is certainly a night to remember.
After a night glamping, early rise and shine to watch sunrise. Then time to say goodbye to the desert. We will make our way to Todra Gorge where you can take a walk along the river bank and see the towering cliffs. Thereafter we will drive through Rose Valley before arriving Ouarzazate. The next day it’s time to visit the famous UNESCO site Ait Ben Haddou, filming location of Hollywood movies such as Gladiator, The Mummy and Games of Thrones. Then we will drive to Imlil in the High Atlas.
Next morning, take a 3 hour hike to see and learn about Berber way of life. After lunch, we will transfer you to Marrakech and the tour finishes with a drop off at your riad or hotel.
Today you will be picked up from your accommodation in Fes. Start a magnificent journey to the Desert of Merzouga. Along the way we will be stopping several times to discover and to see all the breathtaking sites. As we start with Ifrane City (Switzerland of Morocco). Where you can witness the place’s atmosphere of the Middle Atlas Mountain. From there to Azrou Cedar forest where you can see wild monkeys called Barbary Macaques. Which have emigrated from Gibraltar. Thereafter free time for lunch then keep driving to the panoramic view of Ziz Valley where only palm trees are growing due to the desert climate in the region. Finally reach the Magical desert where Erg Chebbi dune lies. And where the sand dunes will start appearing before your eyes – Dinner and overnight in Merzouga.
A whole day to explore the desert as we Visit First the nomad Berber families in their traditional tent. Later we visit Khamlia village where you can enjoy a Gnawa music performance and try a Berber pizza for lunch in a specialized local restaurant. Today’s experience is like no other as you will get in touch with locals, Gnawa, and Nomads of the region. Before sunset, camels will take you for a stroll. Dinner, drum entertainment at camp, and overnight in a desert tent.
Early rise and shine to watch the sunrise and changing colors of the dunes, have breakfast then time to say goodbye to the desert and head the road again as we take the road of one thousand Kasbah to reach Tinghir, for lunch and break then a short afternoon hike in the area, also see Todra Gorge, a spectacular canyon with tall cliffs – Dinner and overnight stay in a charming Hotel/Riad in Tinghir.
After breakfast. We continue our Moroccan adventure to Ouarzazate on the way there is much to see the first stop is the dazzling panorama of the Rose Valley in Kelaat M’Gouna, a city known for the yearly rose festival thanks to the many trees of roses that are growing here a lot. We will be visiting a women’s cooperative to get to see how from roses hundreds of products get made. Then a visit to Kasbah Amridil in Skoura, built in 17th century, with a museum showing traditional kasbah life – A short walk through Palmeraie in Skoura – Then to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, a visit to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Ait Ben Haddou is a backdrop for Hollywood movies such as Gladiator, and The Mummy. Indiana Jones and Game of Thrones. Thereafter we Drive through the High Atlas Mountains over the pass of Tizi’nTichka with an elevation of 2260 above sea level. A stop to enjoy the landscapes and to take some memorable pictures then we continue to Imlil a small touristic village located at the high Atlas Mountain where you will be passing the overnight in a charming Kasbah or Riad including dinner.
After breakfast, start a 3-hour hike with a local mountain guide to see the scenery of High Atlas Mountain and visit Berber villages and see their way of life- Later after Lunch transfer to Marrakech, it takes about 2 hours to reach the red city from then our 6 Days Morocco tour ends with a drop off at your accommodation or Menara airport.
